1. Informational Purposes Only (No Therapeutic Relationship)

The content on this website is provided for general informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Use of this website does not establish a therapist-client relationship with Jaz de L’Arbre or Oak & Ember Counseling.

A therapeutic relationship is only established after completion of required intake documentation, informed consent, and mutual agreement to begin services.

2. Telehealth Services & Location

Oak & Ember Counseling provides virtual mental health services to clients located within the state of Washington. By engaging in services, you confirm that you are physically located in Washington State at the time of each session.

3. Not for Emergencies

This website and any associated communication channels (including email or contact forms) are not intended for emergency or crisis situations.

If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing or texting 988.

4. Use of Website

You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You may not use this website in any way that could damage, disable, or impair the functionality of the site or interfere with other users’ access.

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and design, is the property of Oak & Ember Counseling and may not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.

5. Privacy & Communication

While we take reasonable steps to protect your privacy, communication through this website (including contact forms and email) may not be fully secure. Please avoid sharing sensitive or confidential information through unsecured channels.

6. Third-Party Services

This website may utilize third-party platforms (including scheduling, billing, or telehealth software). Oak & Ember Counseling is not responsible for the privacy practices, policies, or functionality of third-party services.

7. Telehealth Consent (General Information)

Services may be provided via telehealth using secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. By engaging in telehealth services, you acknowledge that:

  • Telehealth involves the use of electronic communications to enable services at a distance

  • There are potential risks to confidentiality despite reasonable safeguards

  • Technical issues may occasionally disrupt sessions

Formal informed consent for telehealth services will be obtained prior to the start of treatment.

8. Fees, Payment, and Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

Clients have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges for services in accordance with the No Surprises Act.

This estimate outlines the anticipated cost of services based on the information available at the time and does not constitute a contract or guarantee of final charges.

Full details regarding fees, payment policies, and billing procedures will be provided during the intake process and outlined in your informed consent documents.

9. Cancellation & No-Show Policy (Website Summary)

Appointments are reserved specifically for you. A minimum of 49 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment without incurring a charge.

Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee. Full details of this policy will be provided in your intake paperwork and informed consent.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oak & Ember Counseling and Jaz de L’Arbre disclaim any liability for damages arising out of or related to your use of this website.

This includes, but is not limited to, direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

11. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Any disputes arising from the use of this website shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located within Washington State.

12. Changes to Terms

Oak & Ember Counseling reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to this website.
